Main Committee
The Main Committee: Guiding Education, Advocacy, and Prevention
The main committee fosters a collaborative environment within a wide range of organizations and individuals dedicated to developing and implementing effective responses to, and prevention of, violence against women. This mission is realized through leadership, education, and advocacy efforts guided by the standards and expectations set forth by the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services (MCCSS).
Leading the Way Together
As the core decision-making body, the Main Committee fosters collaboration, sets direction, and ensures our initiatives align with community needs and provincial standards. These are their main roles:
-
Members regularly review the orientation manual, uphold the Code of Conduct, respond to and share (where appropriate) VAWCCWE emails, and actively engage in meetings.
-
Members offer insights, feedback, and suggestions to advance committee initiatives.
-
Members inform fellow committee members about their role and their agency to foster collaboration and partnerships across organizations and sectors.
-
Members share information and questions discussed during committee meetings with their agency, ensuring a flow of information that creates a collaborative approach to addressing and responding to Gender Based Violence (GBV)/Violence Against Women (VAW).
-
Members engage with their networks and the broader community to raise awareness, education, and advocate for increased understanding about GBV/IPV and the associated supports, leveraging the voice and resources of the committee.
